Outpost for Kids · coming soon
Learning how the country works, where nothing a child does leaves their device.
Outpost for Kids is closed while we finish it. The games, stories and lessons below are built and waiting. There is no opening date yet, and this page will say so when there is.
Beacon Scout
The character each player builds from a fixed list of choices, and the piece they move on the board. It is kept on the device and never sent to us.
The Kids Arcade
5 games about how a community decides, how a bill moves and how a budget balances:
- The Stand
- Sorting Shelf
- Order Shelf
- Helper Match
- Steady the Scale
The Story Shelf
11 public-domain children’s classics, each with things a grown-up and a child can talk about together.
The lessons
24 short units on how this country works, written for kids, with questions that check what stuck.
No account
A child will not sign up for anything. There is nothing to sign up for.
We collect nothing from a child.
- No account is needed to use anything on the children's pages.
- Those pages make no requests to us while a child uses them — there is no server that hears about it, so there is nothing for us to keep, sell, lose, or be asked to hand over.
- Nothing loads from anybody else's servers, so no other company learns that a child was here either.
- There is nowhere for a child to type, upload, or send anything, and nobody they can message.
- We never ask for a name, an age, an email address, or a location.
Why you can check it rather than trust it
- Every build of Outpost reads the code of the children’s pages, 146 files at the last count, following every import. The build fails if any of them could make a network request, set a cookie, send a tracking beacon, or put a text box, upload, camera or location prompt where a child could reach it.
- The browser is told the same thing. On the children’s pages it is instructed to load nothing from anybody else’s servers and to refuse embedded frames, plug-ins and form submissions.
- A child’s browser may keep 14 small settings, such as the character and arcade progress. Each is listed for parents with what it holds and how long it may be kept (at most 365 days), and none of them is ever sent to us.
